THE ART OF LAYERING

Everytime I hear "knitted vest" it conjures up images of ivy league style - flooding my memory with delicious pictures of brands such as Brooks Brothers, Lacoste, Lily Pulitzer and Ralph Lauren. Knitted vest probably one of the most interesting rainy day transition piece, it is a cool and cozy way to add a bit of warmth and style to our basics as we ease into cooler months.  And once "Ber Months" hits in full force, vests can easily be use as layers for maximum warmth. Just make sure it is lightweight, to make it more weather acceptable.
Layering is so great because it allows for more creativity, a little eccentricity, and usually means less skin is on display. Plus, with the simple addition of another piece you can create an entirely different outfit. When we layer our favorite tops, tanks, vest, cardigans, and jackets it gives way more versatility to “out of season” pieces – and helps us to be prepared no matter what may happen! And it’s also a great way to wear again our out of seasoned clothes in a whole new look.

TRY THESE BASIC TIPS:

Stick to the same color family.  Whether your going to go brown, blue, or yellow try to go with colors that can all fit in the same color family. Going crazy on the color will leave you looking more like a clown.

Think shapeLayering should not diminish the body’s natural shape. It shouldn’t look like you are walking around in a sack. Try a fitted vest or cardigan to give some shape and dimension to the outfit.

Go beyond the moment.  Maybe you are cold when dressing, but you could step into a warm environment. Make sure layers can be taken off and added as needed without causing embarrassment as to what’s underneath.

Be creative.  Layering, whether it’s three necklaces or two shirts and a knitted vest, is all about creativity. Think outside the box. What can be paired together? Experiment with various options.
