Monday, perhaps the least favorite day of the week for every student, professional and everyone who's part of the labor force. The phlegmatic routine of peeling yourself out of a cozy bed is just not that exhilarating. So, to avoid such situation, I got my Roey (it's an Ipod...any gadget that costs more than 5k deserves a name) and listen to the songs that can get me going to start the week right. Here's my playlist that keeps my earlobes burning.
1. Katy Perry's Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)- This is another upbeat slice of charming pop with bubbly tune that deserves a significant stay on pop radio playlists. The fifth single off of her 2010 No.1 album, "Teenage Dream." If you guys love the music, you'll definitely adore the video. In all the 1980′s cheesy glory, Katy brings that flavor and style to this track. I did not expect this, but it was quite refreshing. You'll get some lucky cameos from Rebecca Black, Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, Hanson, Kenny G, Debbie Gibson and Corey Feldman. Katy Perry might not be the best vocalist in pop music, but she certainly knows how to create a good time.
“There’s a stranger in my bed / There’s a pounding my head / Glitter all over the room / Pink flamingos in the pool / I smell like a minibar / DJ’s passed out in the yard / Barbie’s on the barbeque / This a hickie or a bruise? / Pictures of last night / Ended up online / I’m screwed / Oh well / It’s a black top blur / But I’m pretty sure it ruled,” Perry sings in the first verse and into the pre-chorus.

2. Funeral Party's Finale - Funeral Party is a four-piece band that formed late one night in a park. Their sound is a fresh indie-pop, shaped by disparate realities, manifested in the band's musical approach. The single Finale is a fusion of neat, seamless glides between heated guitar solos, ensemble vocals, creating a top-tapping, almost catchy track. One may say that the song was inspired by the 80's punk music. Yes, the vocals may be a little too raucous at times and Elliot's certainly not note perfect, but that just adds to the charm and refreshingly optimistic nature of the band. The great thing about it, you can actually hear and understand every words of the lyrics.
